💬 Comments (aka Heroic Dispatches)
When allies leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comment form—as well as your IP address and browser details—to keep the spam bots at bay.
We may also send a cryptic hash (an anonymized string) of your email to the Gravatar service to check if you have a heroic avatar linked. Their full privacy policy lives here: https://automattic.com/privacy.
🖼️ Media Uploads (Know Before You Deploy Intel)
If you upload images to the site, make sure they don’t contain hidden geolocation data (EXIF GPS). Any villain with the right tools could trace where the image was taken, and nobody wants to reveal their secret lair.
🍪 Cookies (Not the Edible Kind, Sorry)
When you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email, and site info in cookies. It’s like your hero gear—prepped and ready for your next return. These cookies last for one year.
Visiting the login page? We’ll temporarily set a cookie to test if your browser accepts cookies. It disappears when you close the browser.
If you log in, we’ll equip your browser with cookies to remember your login and display preferences. “Remember Me” means you’re in for two weeks. Logging out removes those cookies.
🔗 Embedded Content from Other Worlds
Posts may feature embedded content (videos, images, etc.) from external sites. When you interact with those, it’s like stepping into another hero’s HQ—they may track and analyze your behavior just like they would on their own site.
🧑💻 Who We Share Your Data With
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email—just standard security protocol from HQ.
🗃️ How Long We Keep Your Data
Comments and their metadata stick around forever (or until the end of the multiverse), allowing us to auto-approve future messages from the same hero.
If you register (if registration is ever enabled), your profile information is stored as long as you choose. You can see, edit, or delete your data—though usernames are permanent identity badges.
🛑 Your Data Rights (Know Your Heroic Privileges)
If you have an account or have left comments, you can request a file of the data we hold about you—or request we wipe it completely. (Legal and security exceptions may apply.)
🤖 Spam Detection Bots
Visitor comments may be scanned by our automated spam defense shield—a trusty bot that works behind the scenes to zap unwanted intrusions.
